KUMBHALGARH FORT & RANAKPUR JAIN TEMPLE

KUMBHALGARH FORT & RANAKPUR JAIN TEMPLE

India is known for its culture and beauty which attracts many tourists from all over the world.

The other Royal attraction of India is it's Forts and Palaces and are an essential part of India' s history and Rich Heritage .

My today's blog is about the Kumbhalgarh Fort, a Mewar fortress on the westerly range of Aravalli Hills which was built during the course of the 15th century by Rana Kumbha. The Fort is located in the Rajsamand district near Udaipur of Rajasthan state in western India.. The Kumbhalgarh Fort is famous for its Long Wall which is the second largest wall in the world after the China Wall .

The fort is among the largest fort complexes in the world, and the second largest fort in India after Chittor Fort. It is also famous as this is the birth place of Maharana Pratap the great king and Warrior of Mewar.

The Kumbhalgarh Fort is a World Heritage Site included in Hill Forts of Rajasthan. The Kumbhalgarhis Built on a hilltop 3,600 ft above sea level on the Aravalli range, the fort of Kumbhalgarh has walls that extend 36 km making it one of the longest walls in the world. Kumbhalgarh has seven fortified gateways. There are over 360 temples within the fort, 300 ancient Jain and the rest Hindu. Most of the temples are closed for visitors but are visible from the fort giving an excellent view. You can also enjoy the sand dunes of the Thar Desert from Fort Wall.

If you plan to travel by air Maharana Pratap Airport at Dabok, Udaipur, is the nearest airport to Kumbhalgarh. From the airport you can take a cab to reach the city.

If you are travelling from Delhi you can take a flight Delhi to Udaipur and then a Cab to Kumbhalgarh Fort. The other option from New Delhi to Kumbhalgarh is to take Ashram Express from New Delhi to Falna then take a cab from Falna to Kumbhalgarh.

After visiting Kumbhalgarh you can plan to visit the famous Ranakpur Temple which is about an hour drive from Kumbhalgarh and can be reached by cab.

The temple is located in a village of Ranakpur near Sadri town in the Pali district of Rajasthan and is widely known for its marble Jain temple.

Ranakpur Jain Temple also known as Chaturmukha Dharana Vihara is dedicated to Tirthankar Rishabhanatha. The temple is one of the most spectacular of the Jain temples. There is also a small Sun temple which is managed by the Udaipur royal family trust.

Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur are among the most favourite places of tourists around Udaipur.

I would suggest a one day tour for Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur Jain Temple.
